Releasing in September 2021, this EMG/Krytac Barett REC7 D1 is Barrett Firearms’ debut into the AR market. It has many similar features that most standard AR-15s include, with a few upgrades to increase reliability and performance, even under the most difficult conditions.
This partnership with EMG and Krytac delivers a high-performance piece that’s designed to closely resemble the real REC7 D1 with a twist. Thanks to Krytac’s high-performance and upgradable internals, you can switch parts out to gain the edge you’re looking for.
The REC7 DI is available in different colors like the standard black, tan, and the cool and sophisticated Tungsten gray. The airsoft comes in a couple of lengths as well. You can choose from the shorter 9 ½ inch rail and the full-sized 15-inch version with the SBR and carbine designations.
Each rifle style comes with free float rails and an M-Lok on the three, six, and nine positions. It also comes with a full-length rail across the top with plenty of room to mount accessories.
The elegant handguard has a clean and futuristic design and it’s also very comfortable to use. Before you get thoughts about using it on another rifle, though, you’re going to be disappointed. The handguard is keyed into the upper receiver, reminiscent of the 416. The specialized key helps eliminate wobble and helps to zero any optics you add to it.
Since this is also a Krytac rifle, you receive special goodies, like their feeding mid-cap 150 round mags and their crane style stock with ample room in the battery compartment. Other features you can look forward to includes flip-up polymer backup iron sights and a stock pistol grip.
While the stock allows for multiple positioning for maximum comfort, the REC7 really shines with its handguard. It just feels good to hold in position.
If you’re a bit rough on your airsoft rifles, you’ll be pleasantly surprised when you pick up this one. The solid build feels like it can take anything you throw at it. It looks like it’s made from a solid piece of metal, but don’t worry; it’s surprisingly light for an AR of this build.
