Invented in 1918, the Thompson submachine gun quickly became one of the most iconic guns in American history. Fielded extensively in World War II, the Tommy Gun proved its worth on the battlefield as one of the most effective submachine guns at the time. Once introduced to the civilian market, the Thompson soon earned a more notorious reputation. Widespread use among gangsters and the mob during the American Prohibition era paired with it’s use in World War II made this one of the most famous guns of all time. The Thompson submachine gun has since become a sought after collectors item and can now be used for airsoft in this excellent airsoft 1:1 scale replica. Accepting both the stick style and drum magazines, these airsoft guns shoot 380-410 feet per second with both semi-auto and fully automatic firing modes. Unloaded, the rifle weighs ~6.8 lbs and measures 33.8” long. Wired to the rear with large-type tamiya plugs, this rifle can accept nearly any size or style NiMH and NiCD. The battery compartment in the rifle's stock includes a dark grey foam insert to reduce battery rattle and can be removed with a corkscrew or long wooden screw to accommodate larger batteries up to 5000 mAh. The rear sight is also adjustable for windage and elevation. Internally, the Thompson features an 8mm bushings metal gearbox with hardened steel gears for increased longevity.
