The M16 got its debut in the Vietnam war as a replacement for the M14 and has been the primary infantry rifle of the U.S. since. It is easily recognizable by its completely black body, top carrying handle, and stock which is aligned with the rifle barrel. The M16 family includes M16/A1/A2/A3/A4 variants of the rifle. The M4 is a shorter and lighter version of the M16A2 and has an adjustable "telescoping" stock to replace the fixed stock of the rifle it is based on.
